PRESENT.

I am a PGY-2 resident physician in family medicine in the Fraser Valley, British Columbia, also known as the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples. Central to my envisioned future practice is the concept of narrative medicine–that the stories we tell ourselves about our bodies play a part in affecting outcomes.

I am reading less now than I used to, but want to give my favourite books a shout-out. It’s a lie that writing can’t be taught; you mostly have to read. Here are my completed reads of the last few years:

PAST.

I completed my medical degree in the MD Program at the University of Toronto, based at the Wightman-Berris Academy. My earlier degrees were in Biomedical Engineering; I completed my Masters degree at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, where I helped develop a new caregiving technology–“biosongs”–that translates children’s body temperature, heart rate, and skin conductance to music. ORIGINS.

I grew up on the Atlantic Coast of Canada. Toronto formed me. Now I’m fortunate to call beautiful British Columbia home. My Christian faith is the most important thing in my life.
